Board of Directors – Operations

Brenda Riley
President
I joined the L’Arche Antigonish Board of Directors wanting to learn from and support our community. I have found taking part in the journey of understanding what L’Arche represents and understanding the gifts of all our community members a deeply meaningful experience.

Courtney King

I joined the board because it was an opportunity to support an amazing community in a meaningful way through contributing my skills and experience as an accountant in the non-profit sector.

Sr. Theresa Parker, CSM

Initially, I came to know and appreciate L’Arche by accompaning L’Arche assistants. I’ve been on the Board since 2019.

My experience with family members who had cognitive impairment gave me an incentive to be involved with the group, because I know how valuable assistance can be to clients and their families.

Vanessa Currie

I was so excited to join the board, as I grew up around the L’Arche community in BC. Its been fun getting to know the wonderful community in Antigonish.

Gillian Lorraine

I first heard of L’Arche through the StFX Best Buddies program, where I held the role of co-president. As an accounting student, one of my professors reached out asking if anyone would be interested in joining the L’Arche Antigonish board. After working with lots of members from L’Arche through Best Buddies, I jumped at the chance to join!

Alison Lee
Director
I knew of and was impressed with the work of L’Arche when I knew of it in England, so I was very happy to have an opportunity to serve on the Board of L’Arche Antigonish.

Dr. Rhonda Semple

Paul van de Wiel
Director
L’Arche Antigonish has been a part of my family since the early 1980’s when our family would host picnics and L’Arche homes from away when they visited Antigonish. My sister and brother-in-law were both employees of L’Arche in various areas. When I was asked to sit on the board, I was happy to help wherever I could.

Growing up in Antigonish, I have been exposed to the beauty of L’Arche since I was a child. During university, I volunteered at L’Arche, I now have two cousins who live at L’Arche, and I have many pieces of art made in the Hearts and Hands workshop! I love everything L’Arche does!
